Another rarity also realized over half a million, with a total of nine PMG-certified notes selling for six figures in the October Heritage sale.

A Gold Certificate certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) achieved an impressive $750,000 in a recent Heritage Auctions sale. The Long Beach Expo US Currency Signature Auction held on October 7, 2022, included nine PMG-certified banknotes that realized six figures.

The 1882 $100 Gold Certificate with Friedberg# 1202 graded PMG 30 Very Fine (lot 21222) dominated the sale, as collectors recognized a rare opportunity, bidding the note up to $750,000. Today, there are only two of these notes known to exist, with the other belonging to the Smithsonian Institution, according to Heritage Auctions.

It is one of only 10 examples from all districts that are known, according to the auction house. These issues are far rarer than the 1934 Series $10,000 Federal Reserve Notes.
