PMG-certified Chinese Banknotes Sell for $144,000

The trio of vintage rarities were among over 400 PMG-certified notes that were offered in a Heritage Auctions sale in early December.

A trio of vintage Chinese rarities was the top lot in a Heritage Auctions sale that featured over 400 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®). The World Paper Money Signature Auction - Hong Kong was held on December 5, 2022.

Topping the auction was a group of three China 1953 10 Yuan notes with consecutive serial numbers, each graded either PMG 62 Uncirculated or PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated (lot 23169). Together, these notes realized $144,000. As the highest denomination of this short series, the 1953 10 Yuan represented a substantial sum of money at the time.
