Series Key $2 Legal Tender Certified by PMG Expected to Realize Six Figures in Goldberg Sale

An ultra-rare $2 Legal Tender stands out among the dozens of notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) in a sale presented by Goldberg Auctioneers. The PMG-certified banknote may complete the Small-size Legal Tender series for one determined collector. Bidding is already underway for The Pre-Long Beach Auction, which will be held June 18-21, 2023.

The top rarity in the sale is a 1928B $2 Legal Tender Note graded PMG 58 Choice About Uncirculated EPQ (lot 89), with an estimate of $100,000 and up. This Small-size Legal Tender is the key to the series due to its rarity: The PMG Population Report contains only six examples of the 1503* Friedberg catalog number. The auction house states that only 10 examples are known, with this example earning the second-finest grade among them.
