Iraq Rarity Leads the Way in Crown Currency Auction
Posted on 5/17/2024
A rarity from Iraq is among more than 600 world banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) that are being offered in an upcoming Crown Currency auction. Online bidding is already underway for the Live Auction 29 - Banknotes & Coins, which is scheduled to conclude May 31, 2024.
A top highlight of the auction is an Iraq, Government of Iraq 1931 1 Dinar graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 337). This famous note showing King Faisal I was created late in his 12-year reign of Iraq, which lasted until 1933 when he died of a heart attack. His portrait sits at the right side of the front of the vibrant, blue-colored note. Out of 72 examples of this particular catalog number in the PMG Population Report, only one is graded higher.
