Singapore Banknote Certified by PMG Stands Out in Mavin Auction

Featured in the auction is a Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1973) 10,000 Dollars graded PMG 50 About Uncirculated (lot 125), with an estimate of at least SGD 36,000 (about $27,000). The 1973 Singapore Board of Commissioners of Currency $10,000 banknote is the highest denomination ever issued by the country. This note is part of the Orchid series, which was Singapore's first currency series introduced after gaining independence. Singapore also issued $10,000 notes in subsequent series but stopped printing them a decade ago to reduce the opportunities for money launderers.
