Posted on 11/15/2024

The Middle Eastern rarity is the finest known of its type and is one of hundreds of world notes certified by PMG available in the late November sale.

More than 600 world notes that are certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are being offered in an upcoming Crown Currency sale. Bidding is already underway for the auction house's Crown Currency Live Auction 34, which is being held on November 22, 2024.

The top PMG-certified highlight in the auction is an Iraq, Government of Iraq 1931 1/4 Dinar Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 424). Created toward the end of King Faisal I's 12-year reign, this note is the lowest denomination out of six created in 1931. The banknotes were printed in Great Britain, from which Iraq gained its independence in 1932. This rare note is the Top Pop in the PMG Population Report.
