PMG-certified Malaysian Rarity Highlights Trigometric Auction
Posted on 11/15/2024
An exceptional selection of Asian rarities is among more than 350 world notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) that are being offered in an upcoming Trigometric sale. Bidding is already underway for the auction house's November 2024 Auction - Session 2, which will conclude on December 1, 2024. (Additionally, more than 200 PMG-certified notes are part of Session 1, which concludes a day earlier.)
The top PMG-certified highlight in the auction is a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1976-81) 50 Ringgit with a Solid-8 Serial Number graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 2054), with an estimate of RM36,000 to RM70,000 (about $8,000 to $16,000). PMG has graded more than 3,500 examples of this particular catalog number and only 14 are graded higher. The note also includes a Solid-8 serial number, which adds significantly to its collector appeal. The number 8 is considered lucky in much of Asia because its pronunciation in Chinese is similar to the word for fortune.
