PMG-certified Red Seal Banknotes with Serial Number 1 Command Impressive Prices

Posted on 2/24/2025

These notes from the Coronado Collection are drawing intense bidder interest as GreatCollections continues to offer more of them.

Collectors still have the opportunity to acquire rare Red Seal National Bank Notes with Serial Number 1 that are certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®). The notes, from the Coronado Collection, are being offered by GreatCollections, which has already seen several sell for six-figure prices.

Printed for individual US banks, the Red Seal notes were issued early in the 1902 Series of National Bank Notes. National Bank Notes with Serial Number 1 are especially prized by the collecting community, and they sometimes represent the first notes issued by their bank.

GreatCollections began the auction in October 2024 and has already sold a Nogales, Territory of Arizona 1902 $10 Red Seal with Serial Number 1 graded PMG 30 Very Fine that realized $231,750 on October 6, 2024.
