Posted on 3/17/2025
Collectors and investors have the opportunity to acquire historic and high-grade Chinese coins and banknotes certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®), respectively. Bidding is already underway for an impressive selection of rarities in Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ Hong Kong (SAR) Showcase Auction, which will be held April 7-13, 2025.
Among the NGC highlights is a China 1990 20oz Gold 1,500 Yuan Dragon & Phoenix graded NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo (Session 3, lot 42057), with an estimate of $80,000 to $100,000. This stunning large-format gold coin is an impressive piece featuring a beautifully detailed design of the two mythical creatures, a motif signifying prosperity and balance. Issued in limited quantities, the coin is highly sought after by collectors and investors for its gold content, artistic craftsmanship and cultural significance, making it one of the most prestigious modern Chinese numismatic treasures.

This is a rare and visually striking banknote, issued as a test print to evaluate design and color schemes before final production.
