Stack's Bowers Galleries Offers Rare Printer's Models Certified by PMG

A pair of seldom-seen Printer's Models are among more than 550 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) that are being offered in an upcoming auction presented by Stack's Bowers Galleries that is focused on paper money from around the world. Bidding is already underway for the Spring 2025 Maastricht Auction: World Paper Money, which ends on May 8, 2025.
The top PMG-certified lot in the sale is a pair of Malaya & British Borneo 1958 50 Dollars - Printer's Models (Front and Back) graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated and 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 50408), with an estimate of $10,000 to $17,500. The only 50 Dollar notes issued for Malaya & British Borneo are the series 1953, which feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The front of this proposed note shows a portrait of Tunku Abdul Rahman, who prior to becoming prime minister of Malaysia served as the only chief minister of Malaya from 1955 to 1957; the back shows Government Offices in Kuala Lumpur.

- a Saar, Treasury 1947 100 Mark graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 50524), with an estimate of $8,000 to $12,000
- a China, Deutsch-Asiatische Bank 1907 5 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 50087), with an estimate of $5,000 to $10,000
- a Kiau Chau, Deutsch-Asiatische Bank 1907 10 Dollars graded PMG 20 Very Fine (lot 50088), with an estimate of $5,000 to $10,000
