The Central Bank of The Bahamas recently released a new $1 CRISP Evolution banknote. This vibrant note is a great addition for all Bahamian currency collectors and already has a home in the PMG Registry. Let’s look at a comprehensive 1974-Date Bahamas set found here.

In a press release, The Central Bank stated, "The new banknote is similar to the Series 2017 version, boasts more vibrant green tones, and bears a slightly wider security thread on the reverse (4 mm vs 3 mm). The new banknote is printed on Giesecke + Devrient’s Hybrid Green substrate — a more environmentally friendly version of its legacy Hybrid technology — boasting more sustainable components that last longer, with an overall lower carbon footprint."

We can view the differences between the new issue and a similar 2017 note, also depicting former Prime Minister Sir Lynden Pindling, in our featured PMG Registry set by Brufe. He offers a pristine 2017 $1 Star note, graded PMG 70 Gem Uncirculated EPQ★.

The 2017 $1 note is not the only example in this set worthy of viewing. Most notes here are graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ or higher. Be sure to check out the extensive gallery for a lovely snapshot of the culture of the Bahamas. Of course, Queen Elizabeth II graces many notes, along with: Paradise Beach, the Straw Market, Government House, horsedrawn carriages, the Royal Bahamas Police Band, local Junkanoo Dancers, sailboats, seashells, local colorful fish and much more. Brufe has uploaded images for all 62 notes in this extensive set, and he is only a few notes shy of reaching 100% completion!

Brufe has been carefully compiling and upgrading this set since 2020 and currently sits in second place, not far behind the current leader, dukeleto. It is a close race, for sure. The 2025 annual PMG Registry Awards deadline is approaching soon, but anything can happen before June 1st! Thank you, Brufe, for sharing your unique collection for all of the PMG community to enjoy.

Remember, this year, the PMG Registry annual awards are at the 2025 Summer ANA! This transition means there is more time to get your sets ready for the next award period! Winners of 2025 PMG Registry Awards receive a personalized plaque, an icon of recognition next to their PMG Registry set and a $500 PMG grading credit! Check out our exciting announcement here about the upcoming annual awards.
