PMG Notes Achieve High Prices in Spink Hong Kong Sale

Among the highlights of Spink's Numismatic Collector's Series Sale auction, held in Hong Kong, China on August 7-9, 2018, was a PMG-certified 1934 $500 note from The Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China. Graded PMG 58 Choice Uncirculated, it sold for HK$320,000 (about $40,000 USD).

Additional PMG certified highlights in the Spink sale include:
- Lot 825 - China, Russo-Chinese Bank, 1904, 10 Mexican Dollars, graded PMG 30 Very Fine NET. Price realized: HK$130,000.
- Lot 1099 - China, People's Republic, 1953 10 Yuan, graded PMG 53 About Uncirculated. Price realized: HK$190,000.
- Lot 1710 - Hong Kong, China, The Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, 1923 $10, graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine. Price realized: HK$230,000, significantly higher than its pre-auction estimate of HK$180,000.
- Lot 1739 (13 notes)- Hong Kong, China, The Standard Chartered Bank, 1985 $20 Serial Numbers L000001, L111111, L222222, etc., graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ to PMG 68 Superb Gem Unc EPQ. Price realized: HK$120,000.
- Lot 2108 - Hong Kong, China, The HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, 1904 $500 Specimen, graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ. Price realized: HK$190,000.
- Lot 2177 - Hong Kong, China, The HongKong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, 1909 $500 Specimen, graded PMG 62 Uncirculated. Price realized: HK$260,000, significantly higher than its pre-auction estimate of HK$130,000.
