Varieties: Two varieties (44a) and (44b). Each has a different date and different signatures.

Why is it interesting now? With Halloween fast approaching, we thought that it would be best to showcase this Note of the Month with the Brothers Grimm. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were the co-authors of the book Children's and Household Tales – now more commonly known as Grimms’ Fairy Tales. The first publication in 1812 contained 86 stories. By the seventh edition in 1857, there were 211 stories. While the brothers published 50 stories for children in 1825, their original stories had violent and sexual themes and were never intended for children at all. The fairy tales we know today have changed a lot from their original incarnations, making them more family-friendly. These grim folk tales have been translated to more than 100 languages.
