Why is it interesting now? On August 23, 1966, the first photo of the Earth was taken from NASA’s Lunar Orbiter 1 – as seen from orbit. The original photos were never discovered. It wasn’t until 2008 that the pictures were restored.
Did you know? There were only 2,000 of these notes printed (serial number 1 through 2000), but only 100 remain. The remaining unsold 1,900 notes were returned to the bank. The whereabouts of these 1,900 notes are unknown.
