PMG-graded Vintage World Notes Star in Trigometric Sale

Posted on 6/15/2021

The auction showcases PMG-certified rarities from Southeast Asia, China and elsewhere.

Hundreds of banknotes graded by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) will be featured in an upcoming Trigometric sale, which takes place in three sessions July 2-4, 2021. Online bidding is underway for all sessions.

PMG-graded banknotes are the top lots in all sessions, but a two-note lot featuring China 1922 $100 Front and Back Color Trial Specimens graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated and PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (session 1, lot 372) is of particular interest to collectors. It has an estimate of RM200,000 to RM300,000 (about $49,000 to $73,000 USD).

Considered to be virtually unmatched in visual appeal and technical prowess, these Specimens were produced in 1922 by Waterlow & Sons for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp. The notes’ vibrant colors highlight a traditional Chinese urban scene on the one (the proposed front of the note) and the bank headquarters on the other (the proposed back of the note).

Another exciting offering is a Straits Settlements 1906 1 Dollar graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (session 2, lot 851) with an estimate of RM200,000 to RM240,000 (about $49,000 to $59,000 USD).
