Intriguing India Banknote Featured in London Sale

Over 300 fascinating banknotes that are certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are being offered in an upcoming World Banknotes sale presented by Spink UK. Bidding for the auction is currently underway online, with the sale concluding October 26, 2021.

A rare India, Reserve Bank ND (1937) 1,000 Rupees graded PMG 25 Very Fine NET (lot 1565) is the top PMG-certified lot in the sale. Featuring a portrait of King George VI (1895-1952), the note is printed with an intricate design surrounding the king on the front and a picturesque mountain scene on the back. It has an estimate of £2,500 to £3,000 (about $3,400 to $4,000 USD).

• an India/British Administration 1901-04 10 Rupees graded PMG 15 Choice Fine NET (lot 1553), with an estimate of £800 to £1,500 (about $1,090 to $2,040 USD)
• a Singapore, Board of Commissioners of Currency ND (1975) 1,000 Dollars graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated (lot 1822), with an estimate of £900 to £1,200 (about $1,220 to $1,630 USD)
• a Bermuda/British Administration 1964 £10 graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine (lot 1045), with an estimate of £800 to £1,200 (about $1,090 to $1,630 USD)
• a Burundi, Banque du Royaume ND (1964) 50 Francs graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 1078), with an estimate of £700 to £1,200 (about $953 to $1,630 USD)
